沙巴崇正中学华乐团成立于1986年,为本州第一支华乐团。也是第一支走向国际舞台的沙巴乐团,曾巡回全州、西马、新加坡、台湾、中国、香港等地区作巡回演出。所呈献的曲目除传统经典华乐、沙巴本土土著风韵、西乐中奏外亦大胆突破呈献华乐实验剧场。

 

团员们在学习华乐与生活的结合下,成立校园华乐指导团,协助州内各中小学成立华乐团,成功协办沙巴华乐节,并于2001年举办《风下响宴》578人演奏会,收录于马来西亚之最纪录大全。崇正中学华乐团现任亚庇区三间华小华乐团指导,同时引进中国北京中央音乐学院海外华乐分级考试、中国民族管弦乐学会乐器考级等,每年应邀各界庆典大小演出十余场。多年来,华乐团致力于推行多元民族文化艺术概念,在多个重要场合演出各大民族及世界名曲获得各界好评。此外华乐团有多次与国际闻名的中西演奏家合作经验,演出国际跨界曲目。

 

 

乐团总监是华乐教育家张诚忠老师,乐团指挥是马来西亚著名二胡演奏家张一平老师。

 

Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra was established in 1986, the first of its kind among all Sabah state schools. It is also the first Sabahan Chinese Orchestra to perform on the international platform, which consisted of interstate performances, and also in Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong. Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra features scores which are of Chinese Traditional melodies, and also local Sabahan tunes as well as classical western scores, with the aim to push the boundaries which can be achieved by Chinese traditional instruments.

Through the years, members of Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra has matured immensely and began to reach out to various primary and secondary schools in Sabah with the purpose of setting up their own Chinese Orchestras. In 2001, “The Land below the Wind” entered the Malaysian Book of Records for having 578 members in a single Chinese Orchestra concert. It was a joint performance of several Chinese Orchestra from other schools, pioneered by Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra. With greater standards in mind, Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra has continuosly encouraged its memeber to upgrade themselves. Traditional Chinese Instrument Exams organised by the Central Beijing Music Academy and the Chinese Traditional Strings and Wind Instruments Academy are hosted frequently by Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra for this purpose. Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra has integrated local culture in its many works, and this is often applauded with huge success in various performances. Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra also had the great honour of working several internationally acclaimed performances of the world.

The current advisor of Sabah Tshung Tsin Chinese Orchestra is Mr Teo Seng Chong, and current conductor being Mr Teo Yee Peng, who is an internationally acclaimed Erhu player.
